Why study the brain to treat obesity?

The latest scientific evidence shows that the brain plays a central role in regulating hunger, satiety, and energy metabolism.

In people with obesity and type 2 diabetes, some neurobiological mechanisms that control eating behavior and energy expenditure are altered.

For this reason, the project explores the potential of neuromodulation techniques as tools capable of acting on the brain circuits involved in the regulation of appetite and metabolism.
